The Raven-undisclosed project

The Raven — Undisclosed Project

Responsible for sculpting, feather development, and texturing.

The Raven was sculpted in ZBrush, with a strong focus on anatomical accuracy and natural form. I developed a custom feather system using hair cards, which were created and detailed in Substance Painter to achieve a layered, realistic look.

Feather geometry was imported into Maya for application, refinement, and final placement. Multiple texture sets were used to enhance the surface detail, lighting response, and subtle tonal variations across the wings and body.

During the process, I studied real-world raven references to capture their unique feather structure and organic feel. I also experimented with hand-painted feather brushes and material layering techniques to push the realism further.

This was a challenging yet rewarding experience—created for an undisclosed project contract—and it allowed me to deepen my understanding of avian anatomy, texture blending, and organic asset creation.
